Nov. 14 is World Diabetes Day

Nov. 14 is World Diabetes Day. Led by the International Diabetes Federation, the day promotes worldwide diabetes advocacy and awareness.About 9.3% of Americans have diabetes, according to the American Diabetes Association (ADA). Diabetic eye problems, including blindness, are a serious problem.“In 2005–2008, of adults with diabetes aged 40 years or older, 4.2 million (28.5%) people had diabetic retinopathy, damage to the small blood vessels in the retina that may result in loss of vision.” – American Diabetes Association If you have diabetes, it’s important to work with your doctor to follow a diet, exercise and treatment plan.
